The Queen's Chamber Band and soloists perform Handel's recently
discovered Gloria and two virtuoso Italian cantatas ("Mi palpita il cor" and "Pastorella vagha bella") as well as harpsichord Suite Number 3 in D minor.

Julianne Baird, acclaimed as the “Queen of Early Music Sopranos,” is featured in the gentle Pastorella vagha bella and Handel's superb setting of the Gloria for voice, strings and continuo, and the haunting sound of countertenor Marshall Coid is heard in the oboe cantata Mi palpitar il cor, with Elaine Comparone, artistic director of the New York-based Queen's Chamber Band, plays continuo and is soloist in the D Minor Suite. These soloists are also featured on Lyrichord's Dowland: Passionate Pavans & Galliards
(LEMS 8046). Both CDs were produced for Lyrichord by John Ostendorf.
