This recording will serve as an introduction to the gong and xylophone music of Thailand. Phats (bands) from several musical centers in Thailand play the ceremonial, court, temple and entertainment music of Siam, including rarely-circulated cremation music. This release was recorded by James Upton of the University of Northern Colorado during 1995 and 96. 14 tracks, 52 minutes.
